Stretching over 6, 300 km, the Great Wall of China is one of the oldest and largest man-made structures on Earth and one of the few that can be seen from Space. The Great Wall was constructed over a period of 2,000 years and often weaves through a difficult path along high mountain ridges.

This trek begins on the 30 May 2008 and was the perfect challenge for me as I've never even run for a bus before. The last time I got any serious exercise was in P.E. lessons at school. And that was 25 years ago. Interesting trekking days ahead. 

Having being fortunate enough to be able to complete a Masters in International Human Rights Law, the number of protections in the form of Treaties and Conventions governing the Rights of the Child became apparent. These automatic rights for children in the Western world are cherished and enshrined. What struck me was; what if you were a child growing up in an unlucky country which suffers blasts & bombs and terrifying civil war every single day? What happens to your human rights as a child then? Where are the protections so safely guarded?

Human rights are stripped away and replaced with misery, fear and lawlessness.No school, no electricity, no home, no safety, no light, no food and no security. Imagine the life, imagine the sounds, and imagine the environment. Allah has blessed us and our children, we grow up in safe lands and live within the security of our society and family. I wanted to raise awareness of the plight of these not so lucky children.    

All proceeds will aid and assist many innocent children caught up in brutal conflict. The money you pledge could help young land mine victims in Afghanistan or provide equipment for school children in Iraq.
