Story

Update 12/8/10

The time has finally arrived when the physical and mental scars have nearly healed, and I feel ready to add something to this page!!

Nearly four weeks ago now, on 17th and 18th July 2010, all four of us completed the Trailwalker in a time of 23 Hours 51 Minutes and 55 Seconds! This placed us 84th out of 176 finishing teams...a top half finish which is very pleasing to my competitive side!

Speaking for myself, I can honestly say this was the toughest challenge I have ever undertaken. I'm not sure if the other guys would agree with me on that, but if they dont I'd love to know what they've done that is tougher! The sense of achievement in completing it was slightly lost amongst the tiredness and pain on the day we finished. But having had time to think about it and recover I really am very proud to be able to say that I completed the Trailwalker in under 24 hours!

Please have a look at the new photos which I've added, they don't even begin to show the pain that we were going through at various points....but they look nice!

Thank you to every one who supported us with donations, which it would seem came at a very good time with Oxfam being involved in the relief effort following heavy flooding in Pakistan.

We must reserve our biggest thanks though for all of our support crew...Fay, Farmer, Sarah and Karen! I'm sure without all of your efforts to nourish, encourage, repair and support (literally at some points) us, we would never have made it to the finish line!! Your help was hugely appreciated!!

Update 8/6/10

Unfortunately, due to work commitments Tom has had to drop out!

Fortunately, we have managed to find a ready made replacement, with good Trailwalker pedigree (he completed it last year with the Easy Striders!), in the shape of Mr William Franklin!!

Welcome to Manor Farm Rambling Society Will, we're all very grateful to have you in the team at such short notice!

For the rest of us training has been continuing at a steady (almost backwards) pace. However, from here on in the pace is set to increase, as we only have 5 weeks to go until the main event! The next full team walk is planned to take place on Sunday 20th June, the day after the Manor Farm Rambling Society Summer Fete. Anyone who is interested in attending the fete to help us raise money and have a jolly good time with it, please get in touch with one of the team who will pass on details.

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, we really appreciate your contributions.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Although its a long way off, we would really appreciate your donations to help motivate us for the many hours of training we will be putting in over the months ahead!

Here's the basics of what the Trailwalker involves:

x 4 people

x 30 hours continuous walking, day, through night.

x 100km = 60 miles along the !!

x This is like walking from Southampton to Bristol, Bristol to Exeter, London to Northampton, Norwich to Peterborough, Birmingham to Chester, Sheffield to Hull, Leeds to Middleborough, Glasgow to Dundee, Belfast to Londonderry.

x D-Day: 17/07/10

Oxfam has been heavily involved in the relief efforts following the recent earthquake in .  They are continuing to support the recovery of the many of thousands of people affected.  We feel this event entirely appropriate to show our support for what can only be described as a desperate situation.  Oxfam are playing a very important role in this and many other good causes.  Please support us!
