Story
Hello All
A very big thank you to all who sponsored me.
I have now completed the London marathon in a time of 5 hrs, 41 mins and 49 secs. A respectable time, but nothing to write home about. It was an amazing experience and one that I may want to do again...MAYBE.
Time was not on my mind when I ran the marathon, but I was happy that I came in under 6hrs. Having assessed my performance and thought about the way I ran and how it went over all, I am very confident that a time of less than 5 hours is very achievable. I'm mad I know, but that's what I'm thinking about now, breaking the 5 hour mark.
Recovery is much better than expected. 48 hours after crossing the finishing line, I feel very good. my legs are feeling much more like normal today. The worst parts of it are my knees, but they are starting to feel normal as well. The good and fast recovery is mostly down to the training that I did and the food that I ate leading up to the race.
I want to thank you all for your support, encouragement and sponsorship. You have all been brilliant. I want to extend a special thanks to Sara, who was my training partner and who pushed me when I wanted to quit...and believe me, there were times when I wanted to quit. So thank you Sara for sticking it through with me, you're fitter than I am as a result. Also to my friend Marc, thanks for your help with my diet and training tips mate. Chrissie and Alan for cooking us a beautiful dinner to help us recover after our first long run, (over 14 miles in Southend), and to Sally for driving us there and back. My neighbour, Richard, for going round our local shops and neighbourhood and helping me raise money for Oxfam. And of course, a big thank you to my mum, for preparing my special food requirement for my running diet and for putting up with my changeable mood swings leading up to the marathon. You are all brilliant.
Thank you so much for your support and those of you who haven't sponsored, well, it's not too late.
All the best
Yas The BISON
