Story
Being massive fans of 'the Arsenal', Marcus had wished to take his friend Chris Stewart and his wife Rachel to see the team play in the Emirates Cup as a late wedding gift (I was to tag along too). Unfortunately, by the time the day of the match arrived on Sun the 1st August, Marcus was too ill to travel.
The staff at Emirates Stadium had been so helpful in trying to make the visit happen, that when he was unable to go they informed the Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger. He wrote a kind letter to Marcus as well as sending him his personal Emirates Cup medal. Marcus appreciated the gesture so much.
The following day Marcus also had a surprise visit from Arsenal legend Bob Wilson OBE, who came to visit him at the Princess Alice Hospice. Mr Wilson presented Marcus with an Arsenal shirt signed by the team's captain Cesc Fàbregas and continued to show great interest in him.
The Willow Foundation was set up by Bob Wilson in memory of his daughter Anna who died of cancer in 1998. The charity has helped over 12,500 seriously ill people in the UK between the ages of 16 and 40 by giving them special days to remember. Mr Wilson's visit meant so much to Marcus and really cheered him up.
As a family we are grateful to Mr Wilson and all the great work the Willow Foundation does. Donations of any size will be much appreciated as they will help to bring happiness to those going through difficult times at the end of their lives.
Kind regards,
Karl (Marcus’s little brother).
