Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Myself and 8 close friends are attempting the almost 17,000 ft, 4-day trek up Mount Kenya this October (see link below for further details of the team and the climb). All members of the Mount Kenya trek group (9 of us in total) are funding the entire cost of the trip ourselves. Every penny raised will be donated to the One Can Make A Difference campaign which will fund urgent research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and, please god, help children like Joey Levene (pictured left) to live as normal a childhood as possible and hopefully a much longer life.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a heartbreaking disease for which there is currently no cure. It is a severe and progressive muscle wasting disease. It almost exclusively affects boys, one in every 3,500 births.
Children begin to see their muscles waste away, finding it increasingly difficult to perform simple tasks. Boys often die in their teens having been wheelchair bound and unable to move unaided from an early age. The hope for families lies in new treatments that can slow, indeed hopefully one day stop DMD in its tracks. This is a real race against time to help children like Joey.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: One Can Make A Difference will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
