Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I want to raise £1,000 to buy 2 sq meters for the Treehouse new Raising the Roof campaign.
TreeHouse’s new roof will be a living, sedum roof. This attractive ‘green carpet’ will change colour during the summer and will benefit both the occupants of the building and the wider environment by:
- attracting wildlife, flora and fauna
- removing carbon dioxide from the air
- reducing heat loss from the building in winter
- reducing internal air temperature during summer
- absorbing 70 - 90% of rainfall, thus reducing storm-water run off
My task is to cycle around Lake Vattern in central Sweden 13/14June. This ride (along with 17,000 mainly Swedish cyclists) takes me to the edge of my cycling capabilities, the total distance is 186miles. I am not getting any younger and the training gets harder in these cold winter months. I start at 7.30pm on Friday 13th June. This is a serious test of endurance - major temperature changes between day & night, sleep deprivation (try cycling up a hill in total darkness after 80miles at 1am), working on your own (Iam not part of a team) and battling with whatever Mother Nature throws your way (2004 it was torrential freezing rain and in 2007 it was major headwinds). The last 20miles are always the grimest as the body starts to creak.
So please help me to achieve my target for Treehouse by sponsoring me
If you are a UK taxpayer then please claim the tax credit to help my total along.
Thank you
