We provide support, services and advice to help autistic people and their families

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For many many parents of children with autism the education system does not provide them with the support they deserve - it is simply not fair. As a result;

59% of children with Asperger's syndrome are bullied at school and

20% of children with autism have been excluded from school at least once.

The NAS's advocacy for education service provides parents with free advice and support to navigate their way around the complex process of obtaining the appropriate education and support for their children so that they can fulfill their potential. This is a free service and relies on voluntary donations to keep it going. All donations make an impact, for example;

£20 pays for an expert response to a call on our Education Advice Line

£200 pays for a member of the team to travel to and attend a meeting of 10 - 25 families to provide general support and information

£300 - £500 enables us to have an information sheet translated for a non - English speaking family to enable them to understand the education system and processes, and their rights and entitlements

£1000 enables us to train one volunteer to support 50 families a year

I have decided to do my bit to raise much needed funds for this much needed service.

With the memory of last years '5 countries in 3 days' cycling challenge having faded sufficiently for me to remember it as 'fun', I have decided to take part in another challenge by cycling 340km  from Windsor Castle to the Eifell Tower.

I hope that you are able to support me.

With sincere thanks
