Story

Thank you for visiting this fundraising page.

I am pleased to report that the Wimbledon Police charity Tug of War on Wimbledon Common at the Wimbledon Village Fair on Saturday 23 June 2007 was the most fantastic success with 26 teams participating overall!

We are delighted to have exceeded our original target of £15,000 and, with some sponsorship money still outstanding, should easily achieve our revised target of £18,000! The Tug of War also generated a huge spirit of goodwill and comraderie amongst the Community and Wimbledon Police. Our thanks to everyone who took part and, importantly too, to our many sponsors, without whom we could not have raised such an overwhelmingly generous amount of money for Jack!

My colleagues and I in the Wimbledon Police echo the appreciation expressed in an e-mail I received recently from Richard Brown, Jack's father, which I should like to share with you:

"The treatment, which Jack is currently undergoing, is progressing according to schedule. Jack has received one course of radioactive antibody and the build up to the second round is beginning. So far, and in spite of brief but significant pain, the therapy has not been too traumatic....

I hope that our thanks can be relayed to all those involved in the 23rd. The day was clearly a magnificent success. The money you raised was truly outstanding. We cannot but fail to truly express how grateful and admiring we really are for all that has been done in our name. Please, please take a moment to reflect upon your kindness and know that the Brown family are forever in your debt. "                             Richard, Yvonne and Jack

WINNERS OF THE TUG OF WAR: Youth Event - Emmanuel Church after a brave tussle against girls from Ricards High School. Mixed EventBelvedere Square Residents' AssociationMen's Event - Despite being caught in a min-monsoon during the afternoon, the crowds remained in staunch support as the teams' competitive spirit outweighed the adverse weather conditions! After a well-fought battle against the Wimbledon Common Rangers in the Final, whose admirable style and technique were a constant talking point, the Wimbledon Police emerged as well-deserved winners, thus throwing down the gauntlett for another challenge next year!

We will continue to accept donations for Jack via this webpage until the end of September.  If you haven't donated already and would like help Jack complete his treatment and therapy which will be ongoing for some while, please do so now!  No matter how small your donation, it really will help!

Many thanks again to everyone involved - organisers, participants and sponsors alike - in making the Tug of War such a huge and overwhelming success!

We'll be back "pulling" for Jack in the Tug of War at the Wimbledon Village Fair next year.  Note the date: Saturday 21 June 2008.
