My story

Thanks for visiting my the Tia 3 Peaks Page. There is also the Dogs for the Disabled Edinburgh Marathon Page too!

As some of you may know my wonderful dog Joe came from Tia in December 04. He had been in Tia for 2.5 years and overlooked by those wishing to take a dog home, due to his behaviour that dubbed him "Crazy Joe" and before that his owner had been prosecuted for keeping him chained to post in an allotment for life! No wonder he needed adjustment. We have 4 dogs from Tia in my family and I would take more if allowed!

Have a look at http://www.tiagreyhounds.org.uk/index.html but the gist is that tens of thousands of puppies are being bred each year to support a racing and betting industry. Race cards need to be filled but if the dogs are too slow or when they reach 3 years old they are discarded, shot, drowned or if they are lucky dumped in the streets. Following the banning of hunting with dogs and ever lower standards of care, more and more dogs need rescuing.

Tia acts on many fronts, increasing awareness of the plight of ex racing dogs and working lurchers, lobbying for self regulation in the racing industry, and raising money to fund its rescue of these most gracious and ancient dogs in need.

To know more about my build up to the 3 Peaks Race 25th April and Edinburgh Marathon 31st May visit http://runnutsrun.wordpress.com/ and also provides links to the charities.

Thanks Mark
