On Sunday 18th July, I will be tackling the epic cycle race that is l’Étape du Tour
The Étape du Tour is a stage of the Tour De France open to the general public, and this year will attract over 9000 cyclists from all over the world. Starting in Pau the tour will climb 3 monuments of the Pyrénées : col de Marie-Blanque, col du Soulor
and the geant Tourmalet.
Col de Marie-Blanque 9,5 km at 7,5%
Col du Soulor par Ferrières 2 km at 4,9%
Col du Tourmalet par Barèges 19 km at 7,4%
The total climb for the day is 4,100m which equates to cycling
up Mount Snowdon 4 times !! The distance is the same as cycling from
London to Birmingham, or London -> Brighton -> London. i.e 181km
St Gemma's (Yorkshire) is an amazing place, my family have raised money for them since it's opening in 1978 .
