Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Donating through Justgiving is the most efficient way to sponsor me: Norwood gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
What interested me about Norwood is that it does not just 'care' for people. It teaches lifeskills and prepares adults and children with learning disabilities for employment so they can become useful members of a community. It's an enormous organization, a provider of more than 120 specialist services, delivered by 1200 staff and supported by around 700 volunteers around the UK. Take a look at their website to get some idea of what they do. http://www.norwood.org.uk/What-we-do/making-a-difference/
Why am I doing this? As life has rolled on by it has gradually dawned on me how unbelievably lucky and privileged I have been. I see friends, contemporaries - my age and younger - with serious illnesses and life problems. Now on the wrong side of 50 I feel I would like to give back something - do something positive to 'make a difference'.
[ Also - I have always wanted to visit India , and I love veggie currys and cycling ]
Fund raising a significant sum of money to help a charity like Norwood seemed worthwhile to me - I hope you agree. Thanks again - I really appreciate your gift. Martin
