On the 10th and 30th of January 2015, innocent worshippers were martyred after an attack & explostion within and surrounding Mosques in Rawalpindi & Shikapur. Then once again, on the 13th & 18th of February in Peshawar & Rawalpindi. That is four attacks in 2015 so far. Over 100 innocent people have died and hundreds injured in this latest batch of brutal attacks.

What is the IUS Martyrs Appeal about?
The systematic assassination and brutal killing of the followers of Imam Hussain in Pakistan has seen over 30,000 innocent killed. Many thousands have been orphaned, plunged into poverty without their breadwinners - families vanished, futures destroyed.

The brutality of these killings has shown no regard for age, or gender. Victims have included the very young children, to the very old and infirm, from men of working age, to young school girls and to pregnant women. The very same brutality witnessed in Karbala.

In aftermath of these killing, the families of the martyrs have similarly been held prisoner, in this case prisoners of poverty and the deep emotional scarring that the loss of their loved ones has brought. We are supporting victims of terrorist attacks who have died and their families. Many have lost body parts due to bombings and are rejected help and support from their government.

Our Inspiration: Imam Hussain (AS)
When Imam Hussain left behind the comfort of his home for the one final time, his aims were simple, his mission clear: to restore justice, to reform humanity and to re-establish the rights of the common man.

He sacrificed everything he had: the blood of his own heart, his children, his friends and dearest companions. To the extent that after his killing, his tents were plundered and looted, as his orphaned daughters, bereaved sisters and scattered retinue sought sanctuary in the wilderness of the desert.

In his final loneliness on that day in Karbala, Imam Hussain raised a heart-breaking cry:

"Is there anyone who will come to my aid".

Alas, no aid came.

The cry he raised resonates to this day, appealing to the faculties of human compassion and empathy.
