Story
I’m taking part in a charity rally around Europe this year. While this may not one of those super human feats of achievement, I think you all know that I’m never going to run a marathon or do anything too energetic as doing that would undoubtedly place too much of a burden on the NHS! I don’t think I could even manage a sponsored silence!
What I am doing involves driving 3000 miles across Europe in just four days with a couple of friends. To make it even more difficult, the car we use must not cost more than £500.
If this is enough to make you dig deep and support a great cause, please visit our ‘normal’ charity page www.justgiving.com/teamgavlar.
However, if you’re still not convinced enough to part with your hard earned, what if I offer something in return? We have decided on a theme for the event this year, BBC’s hit comedy Gavin and Stacey. We have bought the car, a rather tasty looking Volvo estate and have picked the characters to go as. This is where you come in. There are plenty of male characters in the show but if I raise £1000, I promise to do the event in honour of Vanessa Shanessa Jenkins, more commonly known as the infamous Nessa (“Oh, what’s occurring”). I also promise to provide photographic evidence for any future embarrassment you may want to cause me.
So dig deep, please give all you can to such a fantastic cause, Sparks. Sparks is a leading children’s medical research charity trying to help with some of the following statistics. Of the 700,000 babies born each year in England and Wales, 5,400 will survive the first week of life; a further 3,100 don’t live to see their first birthday. See more at www.sparks.org.uk.
