Late last year my dad (Andy) was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Having known little about the cancer, made it a little more daunting for the family. My dad isn't the type of person to let on how he feels but we could all tell that he was worried.

One of the first things my dad did was to sign up to Men United and talk to other others effected by the illness. This helped him come to terms and understand what he was faced with.

His treatment at the hospital was intense (every weekday, for 7 weeks) and would leave him drained and exhausted. He only went on to lower his working hours after 4 weeks to continue to provide for the family.

The treatment worked and now he is in remission, still receiving hormone injections throughout the year. The look on my dads face when he told me he was in remission is one I will never forget.

I'm here to try and raise awareness, as well as funds for Prostate Cancer UK. To help other see the same face I saw on my dad, on theirs!
