We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be cycling 100 miles through London and Surrey on 2nd August 2015

I am raising money for Guide Dogs. This is a great and most worthy charity who deliver a world class guide dog service as part of a range of mobility services. They work to break down barriers to ensure people who are blind or partially sighted can get out and about on their own.

100 people begin to lose their sight every day in the UK and it’s predicted that nearly 4 million people in the UK will have sight loss by 2050. It costs approximately £50,000 for one Guide dog from breeding through to its retirement.

Please sponsor me and help raise money for this charity which strives to help young and old alike. Any donations, no matter how big or small, will be most gratefully received.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
