Story
We did it! Five peaks, five courses and lots of pain. But as you can see from the photo, some of the most scenic dining in the world. We carried a table, silver service cutlery, all the food, cooking kit and wine over 4000m of ascent - all in memory of our friend Matt Wood.
Matt took his own life in July 2004 aged 26 after struggling with depression. We hope that by embarking on this fine expedition we can raise awareness about what is a surprisingly common mental condition.
The money raised will go towards the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust which, amongst other things, funds research into cognitive behavioural therapy. Last year we raised more than £8,000.
It is still not too late to show us your support. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Charlie Waller Memorial Trust will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
We would also like to thank Mark and Tommi from Wahaca for their kind generosity and for everyone who joined us at their restaurant. We raised over £1,000 from the evening, which has been added to the total raised on this web site.
Many thanks,
Friends of Matthew Wood
