When Kings & Queens lived in Guildford Castle,
ghouls and ghosts stalked the cobbled alleyways,... and Alice
ran alongside the River Wey chasing the White Rabbit...
A message from the Mayor
Councillor Mike Nevins
Join me and my celebrity friends outside the Guildhall, Guildford High Street, on October 18 at 7pm. We'll take a two mile walk back in time
together and see Guildford's history brought to life.
From Archbishops and highwaymen, friars and fingersmiths,
to swords, sceptres and Shakespeare, my Mayor's Lantern
Walk will illuminate exciting scenes from Guildford's
colourful past, all brought to life by actors in costume.
The Mayor's Lantern Walk is unique, the first of its type in
Guildford with dramatic re-enactments at historic sites along
the way, the walk will be entertaining, great fun and all for a
very good cause.
All monies raised from sponsorships on my walk will directly
benefit The Fountain Centre, for cancer sufferers, which is
one of my chosen charities during my year as Mayor.
The Fountain Centre, at St Luke's, RSCH supports over 2,500
new patients each year. The Centre is a welcoming
environment for patients who have been recently diagnosed,
their families and carers.
So, by taking part, you will be actively helping to secure a
more optimistic future for patients and their families at this
difficult time in their lives.
I look forward to seeing you on October 18.
Mike Nevins
