Story

PLEASE NOTE GRAHAM HAS NO AWARENESS OF THIS!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.  PLEASE dig deep, ask the neighbours, colleagues and friends to sponsor me online. Personally pledged to raise £2000 for this opportunity so desperately need your help and support!!

As many of you will know, my Dad, Graham, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the summer of 2005.  I can only try to imagine how incredibly difficult it has been for him both physically and mentally over the past few months coming to terms with his condition, especially after it claimed the life of his father, George, some years ago.

Sometimes in life it seems all to easy to get wrapped up in our own little bubble, I know myself this has certainly been the case over the last year.  Despite bombarding him with hints and tips of homemade juices and smoothies all high in antioxidants I still feel in someway that there is more I could do to show him my support and thoughts.

This is why, back in November last year I applied to the Prostate Cancer Charity for a Golden Bond Place to run for them in the London Marathon on April 23rd.  Whilst I’m ecstatic to have just heard that they granted me one of these highly demanded places the realization is only just starting to sink in…  26 and a bit miles with little over 3 months left for training.  Oucchh that’s going to hurt!

In accepting this place I have personally pledged to raise a minimum of £2000 for this worthy charity.  The Prostate Cancer Charity aims to provide support for suffers and their families, raise awareness within the public eye and fund research projects into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of the most common cancer diagnosed in men.

If there’s one thing I hope I learn from my old man on the big day it has to be his fighting spirit and the way in which he keeps an optimistic outlook on life regardless of its challenges or difficulties… to myself and many others you are a great inspiration.

Dad, I hope you fulfill all your dreams during your retirement…

All the best, with love

Damon xx
