On Wednesday 3rd February the team at Melcrum are going to do a "Dash 4 Cash" to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The
Dash
will take us along a section of the Thames towpath from the OldShipW6
pub to Barnes bridge and back (approximately 5km). Starting at 12:30 and
finishing whenever we can make it back to the OldShipW6.
The
Cash will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee who
are coordinating the response and represent 13 major charities
including Oxfam, British Red Cross and Save the Children.
Maybe
you've been meaning to donate to the DEC, but haven't got round to it
yet? Here's the perfect opportunity to make a difference to the people
of Haiti.

earthquake has hit Haiti, including the densely populated capital
Port-Au-Prince and the surrounding area. Although there is as yet no
accurate assessment of the death toll it is clear that millions of
people live in the affected area. Haiti is the poorest country in the
western hemisphere, greatly increasing the risk that people will suffer
or die in the aftermath of a natural disaster.
Communications have been severely
disrupted and many roads are blocked with rubble. Despite the
challenges, many DEC member agencies are already helping on the ground
while others are preparing to do so. Very substantial humanitarian
assistance will be required to ensure survivors get food, clean water,
emergency shelter, medical care and other support.
Thanks for your support.
