As part of RAG week at Sussex Students' Union, myself (Michael Holder), Anna Cornish and Scott Sheridan are spending a night in the Unisex Lovebus this Thursday night (28th Jan) - and we have not one, but two worthwhile causes...
1 - Our first aim is to raise at least £150 for Hue Help (http://www.huehelp.org/) - one of the three charities supported this year by Sussex RAG society - both from online donations here, and also through us going around the campus residences on Thursday night with some donation buckets.
Hue Help probably do the best job of describing themselves, so I'll leave it to them:
"Hue Help operates a variety of locally developed programs in various
communities in Thua Thien Hue province, central Vietnam. Our projects
are designed to make realistic improvements in communities and care
institutions in ways that allow people to retain their customs, culture
and beliefs."
2 - Our second aim is to encourage students to do a DIY chlamydia screening for Unisex (http://www.unisex.org.uk), as they need 1200 people to take a test in the next month in order to secure extra funding. Unisex is the sexual health promotion & drug/alcohol advice service
for students at Sussex and Brighton Universities, and they are friendly,
non-judgemental & always confidential. Seeing as crucial Unisex funding has recently been cut, securing extra funding is extremely important!
Anyway, I'm not keen on the idea of spending the night in a cold, cramped bus with two of my least favourite people (you know who you are Anna and Scott), so please give us you donations!
