Well I am back and it was an amazing experience. We visited 2 farmers who have been helped by Send a Cow before we went to the Simiens. What struck me was how little land they had and the need to make the most of it. With key hole gardens where they grew vegetables, keeping their cattle in stalls so they could use the manure, and growing a number of different crops, they are achieving much greater productivity.

The trek itself was in the most majestic of mountains. The scenery changed starting up higher and then working our way down. Up at 3am for a 4am start on summit day so we had 2 hours in the dark with our head torches. You just had to go steady at 4000 metres. It was a perfect time to go as they were in the middle of harvesting so the landscape was full of activity and change.
