I have taken part in the Great Wall of China Trek, which aims to raise thousands of pounds for a charity close to my heart-Action for Children.

Action for Children helps over 170,000 children, young children and their families across the UK.  They challenge injustice and empower children to overcome the obstacles in their lives that hold them back.  They work with children and young people who are disabled, whose familiesneed support, who cannot live with their birth families and those who experience severe difficulties in their lives, such as poverty or abuse.

I have completed approximately 110,000 steps trekking the Great Wall of China.  This event was both tiring and physically demanding, and because of the extreme climb up the ruins, it required a great deal of endurance.  The journey was an emotional rollercoaster, at times feeling full of joy and others feeling exhausted and missing my children.  All the fund raisers on the challenge had a different story and reason for joining the challenge, and yet each had joined to help make a difference to a charity very close to their heart.  All the friends I made who joined the challenge inspired me in many ways and I will remember their passion for life always.
