Story

Two curry lovers from Leicester have declared themselves tough enough to face the heat of a world record attempt to visit the most curry restaurants in 24 hours. The attempt kicks off in their home city of Leicester on Thursday 28 August and ends in Stoke-on-Trent on Friday 29 August.

The search for Midlands participants for the XXX Mints 24 Hour Curry Challenge has ended with 23 year old sales analyst Gemma Hull, who has worked for Fox’s Confectionery since her graduation last year. Gemma won't be alone in the experience either, as she will be joined by Andrew Pallett, a 23 year old self-employed maintenance engineer from Narborough.

With a target of 60 curry restaurants to visit during the curry crawl, which also takes in Coventry, Birmingham and Wolverhampton,  the pair have an epic mission infront of them. They hope to triumph against the Northern team, who will be carrying out a similar challenge in the North, visiting restaurants between Bradford and Liverpool.

Gemma explains:  “As soon as I heard that Fox’s was involved in this challenge, I knew that I wanted to take part.  I love spicy foods and as well as it being a real adventure, it’s a great opportunity to raise some money for Oxfam.”

Andrew adds: "Sixty curry houses is a tall order but we're determined to do it for the Midlands. Certainly having the great restaurants of Leicester and Birmingham on our route will give us a great head start on the Northern competitors."
