I'm a Cancer survivor thanks to the skill and care of some very special people. When I was first diagnosed at 50 and during my treatment I sometimes felt sorry for myself . Later, I came to realise how lucky and privileged I'd been to have lived such a full and happy life. Now, of course, I enjoy every day.

Sadly, many children are not so lucky. Cancer and other life-limiting illnesses often strike from nowhere and devastate the lives of children and their families. In celebration of my 'second chance' I intend to make a difference and do what I can to help these fantastic children, their fantastic families, and their fantastic carers and friends.

By attempting a sponsored climb of Kilimanjaro, at nearly 20,000 ft  the highest free-standing mountain in the world, I hoped to raise a serious sum of money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).  Finally, on 28 Sep 06 after 6 days climbing, I reached the top !!

Sponsorship is still most welcome. For £15 (the price of a round of drinks) you can give  a session of therapeutic play for a sick child. For £29 an hour of respite care in a hospice. For £56, 2 hours of symptom or pain relief for a child whose condition has no cure. £90 will provide 3 hours of specialist support for the family of a child with a life-threatening condition, including after bereavement. Even £2 will make a difference if enough people give. Please will you help?
