Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On 26 September 2010, we will be taking part as a family in the Alzheimer's Society's Memory Walk in London.

As you may know, our family has been personally affected following Viv's recent diagnosis.  By participating in this ten miles walk, we hope to raise awareness of Alzheimer's Disease and the important work of the Alzheimer's Society:

  • There are currently 750,000 people with dementia in the UK. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, affecting around 465,000 people in the UK.

  • There are over 16,000 younger people with dementia in the UK.

  • The financial cost of dementia to the UK is over £20 billion a year.

  • There will be over a million people with dementia by 2025.

The Alzheimer's Society works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can read more about Alzheimer's Disease and the work carried out by the Society by visiting www.alzheimers.org.uk.
