Story
Dear All,
As some of you may have already heard we are planning on driving to Mongolia this summer. In a 1991 Fiat Uno. We are partaking in what is the greatest adventure known to man, The Mongol Rally.
The course of the Mongol Rally will pit our 15 year old four speed Fiat Uno against some of the most extreme terrain on earth including thousands of miles of desert, forest, mountain, bad roads and no roads at all. No support vehicles, no carefully marked course, no professional drivers, no fast cars or even good cars. It’s just us, our old banger of a car and thousands of miles of adventures.
The Mongol Rally is a charity event that raises money for the charity Mercy Corps. This charity alleviates suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. The Rally will help make a vital difference to the communities that Mercy Corps is working with in Mongolia. The funds raised from the Mongol Rally will enable the communities to develop small community projects addressing priority issues, as assessed by the communities themselves.
These projects will range from setting up Ger (traditional Mongolian felt tent) kindergartens, building children’s playgrounds, and establishing youth development centres to building wells and environmentally friendly waste management.
More details of Mercy Corps' work in Mongolia can be found here: http://www.mongolrally.com/graphics/charity/mercycorps/mercycorps.pdf
Please support us in raising money for this very worthy cause. Your donation will make a huge difference to those in need in Mongolia.
