Story

I'm climbing a mountain! A big mountain!....

The reason for this (apart from helping me fit into my wedding dress!) is to raise money for the Maya Childcare Trust. Pete's sister Rachael set up a childcare centre in Guatemala that provides care and education for children who are living in real poverty. Some of the children come from terrible backgrounds of mistreatment and neglect. Rates of child malnutrition in Guatemala are among the worst in the world. The centre does amazing work and is funded by the Maya Childcare Trust. They really need our donations to keep the centre open. If you want to know more have a look on their website www.mayachildcare.org.

So I'm going to be in training and hopefully a few friends will join me on the way up. I've never done anything like this before so it's going to be a challenge. (Pete assures me I won't fall off!) Any contributions will be really appreciated and will go towards keeping the centre open and helping these children. Thank you very much in advance!

With love

Gemma (&Pete)x

PS. The date has now changed to 1st May 2010 - wish me luck!

We fund and support the Acorn Childcare Centre in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. It provides a safe and caring educational environment for Guatemalan children living in poverty, and at risk of suffering from neglect. It ensures that children’s basic needs are met and encourages active learning.
