Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of my beautiful one of a kind Mum, Pat who fought a heroic 14 month battle with bowel cancer without complaint and with inspirational dignity. She took her final journey in her own home, as dawn broke on 29th October 2010. I held her hand til the end, she knew I was there and it was peaceful. She was just 67.
Over the previous 12 months Mum endured major surgery and two grueling chemotherapy regimes but sadly neither kept the cancer at bay and she finally accepted and bravely came to terms that her time was limited. It was her wish that she wanted to be cared for and die in her own home, overlooking the apple tree from her bedroom window. It was only with the most amazing support, love and one on one care from Marie Curie nurses assisted by Harris Hospice and Macmillan that this was made possible. For this final privilege I will be eternally grateful and it was Mums wish that I help raise money in her memory to enable these charities to continue providing the same level of support to other cancer patients and their families, from the moment they were diagnosed to wherever their cancer journey took them.
Its a scary fact but 1 in 3 of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives... we never thought this would happen to us .....but it did so please dig deep and donate now.
