Story

Lets run the marathon! Live the dream! Ha why not, always been on that list of things to do! And plus all these people are doing it, I mean seriously how hard can it be? Well for those of you I haven’t bored with my stories of blisters, aching joints, my “running depression”, the “how can I be getting slower dilemma” and any other running “issues” I have encountered in the last months…. please consider yourselves lucky!

Yes, pretty much every conversation will end up with running these days. My love-hate relationship with this sport, which in fact could just be considered just a hate relationship (one day soon I will love- right?).Running has indeed taken over my life, I now find myself searching the “runners world” forum for tips on how to be a better runner and rushing out to get that new edition of the running magazine.

On the home straight of a long run, saying “this is it, no more running, can’t do it, its too hard, 1, 2, 3, 4, just keep running”. But, when I get home, and have a cup of tea and recover (ok that’s an exaggeration it takes more than a cup of tea to recover), I find myself thinking about when I will be able to get out for my next run, could I have gone any faster at any point?! It’s addictive.

So I indeed take my hat of to all the long distance runners out there, the determination it takes to run this distance once in your life time shouldn’t be underestimated, to do more than once…is maybe just plain crazy.

However, despite the above, the point of the marathon is to raise money for charity, mine being AICR- a cancer research charity (http://www.aicr.org.uk/) . The London marathon is indeed their biggest fund raising event. So, I ask you to dig deep, please sponsor me as little or as much as you can. It is of course a brilliant charity and every little will help the work they do.

Thank you very much and maybe I will see you on the big day!
