Story

I'VE DONE IT!!!!

After 72 minutes of grueling work I sprinted across the finish line. What an amazing feeling to know that it was over and I completed it faster than I thought I could. The race went well as we continued at a steady pace, although I did get some serious pins and needles in one of my legs throughout the second half of the race. When the finish line came into view and the crowd started cheering I couldn't help but sprint towards the finish line to complete it in around 72 minutes.

Thank you again for all your support and I'll see you here again next year!

UPDATE!!!

Today (27/04/2010) I went to do some running in South London, unexpectedly I ran more than 5 miles when the plan was to do 3 miles. I feel great right now, but I'm so tired and have the feeling I'm going to feel it tomorrow! It's all in the aid of a good cause so bring on Saturday!

UPDATE!!!

This thing is very intense and as a fresher I don't think I quite grasped how much work I would have to put in to do this. However, raising money for this charity was the foremost thought on my mind and I am so thankful that I have the strength and the health to run. Many of those people I am running for don't have that energy to spare as they busy fighting for their lives. I don't know what trials they go through in this battle but if running this 10k helps save their lives, whether its through donations or awareness and gets people to join the register I would be satisfied with that result.

Hi guys,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I will be running 10k, which is a lil over 6 miles for the ACLT in Regents Park on Saturday 1st May. For those of you that are aware I am also on the bone marrow register and in 2007 was asked to donate my bone marrow for someone who I matched and was now in need. Now I want to do something more for this charity who have done so much in this field. Now with the loss of their son they are still striving to achieve the goals they set out to achieve from the beginning and more. This is my way to say well done and keep up the good work.

Please donate as much as you can, it's a recession so every penny counts, especially for charities such as ACLT that rely on donations from the public as government funding right now is slim pickings!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

ACLT is a charity committed to helping provide hope to patients living with blood cancer and other illnesses where a matched donor (stem cell, blood or organ) is required to save a life. Our work is driven by a belief that no one should die waiting for a donor to become available.
