My dear friend,

I HAVE participated in a team challenge on 2 June 2006 to climb the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours. The peaks are Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon.

I want to use this opportunity to raise some money for the Children of China Foundation. Each year in China thousands, perhaps many hundreds of thousands of children are abandoned. Some of those who survive are sent to the state run institutions near the place they were found. There they live with 50 to 500 other homeless children; 95% of the healthy ones are little girls. Orphanage workers are often untrained and overwhelmed, and do their best to provide the children with basic care. It is all they can do. It is the charity’s objective to improve the basic standard of infrastructure, care and early nurture for these children. 

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Children of China Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.  In addition, the amount I raise should be matched by the PricewaterhouseCoopers matching scheme.

The money we raise will go towards providing the following in orphanages:      

-Provision of blankets, clothing and medicines 

-Provision of hot water, Heating, Basic training for the infant carers      

-Recruitment of additional carers to improve early nurture and development  

-Provision of basic equipment including furniture, washing machines, and toys   

 

I am, of course, covering the entire cost of the challenge so your donations will be solely dedicated to the charity.
