Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

We are intending on cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats this April in aid of the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign. The journey is about 1000miles (1609 km) and will take almost 2 weeks.

Other than the cycle having been a long awaited ambition for Caroline and I we also have been wanting to give back to Cancer research with the hope that sufferers will receive the best  treatment available and with the hope that more people in the future can be saved from this disease. Where better to start than at the hospital itself.

Mum was unfortunately diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma cancer in April of 2005, and spent the next 7 months in and out of hospital as the cancer slowly took over her body, she, as a single mum never lost face and bravely fought as hard as she could for the sake of her 4 children. Much to our deepest sorrow she passed away at the end of November 2005 just months after she was diagnosed.

Through much of her illness the Royal Marsden which was the first hospital in the world to be dedicated to cancer and has become a leader in its field  provided extensive specialist services to mum both as an inpatient in critical care and as an outpatient.
