Story

Hi all,

I did it!!! 26.2 miles in 7 hours 50 minutes!!! Started at 11.20pm and finished at 8.08am! Although it was tough, and I mean tough and I feel like I've been knocked over by a moon crater! It really is the best thing I've ever done! Such a feeling of being part of something so big and all there for the same reason to make a difference for those suffering with breast cancer. The drama of the evening was me falling during the 7th mile! A cracked pavement and I in slow motion went crashing to the ground with a thud while my team members tried to catch me! With a hole in my tracksuit bottoms and cut knee and grazed elbow, I picked myself up, my team members dabbed arnica cooling gel on me and we plodded on.

The thing which touched me last night was seeing a young guy walking with his quite elderly father wearing a pink t-shirt saying  'Miss you Mam' with a photo of her printed on the back.

The support too from the volunteer stewards throughout the night at every corner or traffic light clapping us and encouraging us. It got to the last few miles when if one of them said, you're doing so well girls, carry on smiling, nearly there....that I'd well up with tears.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Dry and mild, even along the river. I actually did walk in only my bra! But covered up in the early hours of the morning, before sunrise. We walked through lovely parts of London, from Hyde Park, through Marble Arch, past Buckingham Palace, along to the East, past St Paul's towards Tower Bridge, and many other places crossing the river at various times over different bridges. My cousin Jason called me at one point about midnight as he & Ciara were up in London and they were watching the walkers from one of the bridges, but they had to get their last train, so I didn't get to see him. But thanks for the calls Jason, encouraging me on at 2am!

I was part of the fab 'The Moonbeams' team - my friend Nicky and her school Mum friends Rachel, Hannah & Mel. We all supported each other, and 'carried each other on' - not literally :o)

Thanks so much all of you who sponsored me, when the going got tough, I thought to myself I'm raising over £1400 doing this!

I would do it again one day in a few years, and maybe with Savanna one day, if she would want to. I thought as we were walking over the serpentine in Hyde Park in the last mile to the finishing line, 'I did it Mum'. And I did....

If any of you would still like to sponsor me, or were waiting to see if I'd actually make it over the finish line! :o) my fundraising page is still active........

Thanks again......
Lots of love
Natasha x

Good Morning! Well yesterday we did our big training walk in preparation for the Moonwalk next week on the 15th May!

We walked 19.1 miles (30.5 km) in 5 hours in the pouring rain! It was HARD going but we made it from Bramley (near Guildford back to Horsham). We're hoping it won't rain on the night!

I fell asleep at 8pm last night, best sleep in ages. Bit achey today, but not too bad.

Thanks to all of you who have sponsored me so far. It helps to know so far I've raised over £700 for Breast Cancer Charities! :o)

After wanting to do this for a few years, I've decided to take part in the London 'Walk the Walk' Moonwalk (26.2 miles) http://www.walkthewalk.org/Challenges/ThePlaytexMoonWalk in aid of Breast Cancer Charities and in honour of my Mum who was diagnosed at only 33 and died aged 40. I'm nearing this age now and it's made me realise just how young she was. Breast Cancer research and treatment has come a long way since then, but there is so much more that can be done and valuable support that is given to breast cancer patients and their families. So help me to raise some pennies for these charities and make my midweek and early Sunday morning training worthwhile! Thanks a £million! :o)
