Story

Thanks for visiting our  fundraising page.....

Will: A big THANKYOU to everyone who has sponsored us. If you have not done so yet, there is still time to do so - please help us get to our £10k target!
I was somewhat disappointed with my time of 3.32.14 as my training suggested I would be on for a much quicker time. Unfortunately the warm weather got the better of me & I had to stop with agonizing cramps at about 18 miles & spent the rest of the way literally limping home. As ever the crowds were magnificent & the cheering virtually carried me over the line. Whilst I am a bit disappointed with my time, it was still a truely fantastic day & I am over the moon with your generosity & how much we have managed to raise for this great cause.

Naz: Thank you everyone for your generous donations! I finished in 3 hours 49 mins and 10 secs! I am so very happy that we raised so much and I completed inside my target time of 4 hours!

EXCITING NEW UPDATE: KNG SECURITIES have very kindly agreed to match any donation, excluding our own pledges up to a maximum of £5000. So that means if you donate £100 CIC will actually receive £228. (An additional £100 from KNG Securities and £28 as Gift Aid if you are a UK Tax Payer) What more of an incentive do you need to give generously to a great cause

Will: This is my third FLM for CIC & I originally picked them because I wanted to do something to help children born, through no fault of their own, into some of the poorest & most deprived corners of our planet. By helping to provide some form of education, CIC gives them & their entire communities something invaluable: hope. In the words of Nelson Mandela " Education is the best weapon you can use to change the world". So please, please give as generously as you can: your donation WILL help change the lives of children less fortunate than our own.

Naz: I am new to running but I've been a long time supporter of CIC. I wanted to take on something that would be an obvious challenge in the hope that it would generate funding for a great cause and a fantastic charity dedicated to bringing education to children in places where generations have been lost to war or poverty. All of the money we raise will go to CIC and 50% will go specifically to the Mishashu Primary School located in the High Plateau Region of Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, built in memory of Martin Friend, a close family friend. The School has been constructed entirely by the parents whose children attend it. They carried the rocks, sand, cement and water countless miles on their heads. They made the kilns for the bricks that make the walls of the school. They were paid for their work and used the money to pay their Childrens school fees of USD $10 pa which in turn pay for the teachers.  It's an inspirational story, for many reasons, if you'd like to know more please read the following article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2008/nov/09/democratic-republic-congo-school  and PLEASE do give generously, it will make the world of difference:

£20 would pay for a teacher's kit on CICs teacher training programme in DRC.

£169 would help provide textbooks and teaching material for a class of 60 children.

£200 would send a teacher on an intensive two week teacher training course.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Children in Crisis gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

We work in some of the world's poorest places, where people suffer the effects of conflicts beyond their control. We are specialists in supporting communities that are remote, difficult to get to and difficult to work in. Put simply, we help children in places other charities just don't go.
