14th July 2010 22:33 Update: Just to let you all know that Ian, Tim, Victor and Caroline made it through the day - we started teeing off at 04:52 and we finished the 72nd hole just before 21:00hrs this evening. Thank you all for your support - we will post the final total collected on here as soon as we have it. In the mean time please feel free to keep donating - every penny or pound counts.
We we also like to give a special "thank you" to the staff and members at Nevill Golf Club who made us so welcome and provided free food and drink all day.
Tim Mills, Victor Outar, Caroline Tatchell and Ian Relf are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in the Longest Day Golf Challenge 2010. They all work together for a charity based in Bromley and will tee-off around 5am on Wednesday 14 July 2010 and will have walked at least 25 miles playing 72 holes, before finishing at around 9pm. This dawn-to-dusk challenge is taking place at the Nevill Golf Club in Tunbridge Wells (www.nevillgolfclub.co.uk) who have generously donated all four rounds free of charge.
Last year, more than 300 teams took part in Macmillan’s challenge, with the top four teams from around the country competing for the challenge title in . We’re definitely not expecting a trip to the finals – we’re just keen to raise as much money as possible for the charity. One of the team, Caroline, lost her partner to cancer earlier this year, so she’s started taking golf lessons and is taking part in this challenge in his memory. And that’s where you come in! Please help us raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We’re hoping that colleagues, contactors, friends, family and even complete strangers will help us push up the total. Not sure how much to give? How about a pound-per-shot policy? Or £10 for every hole birdied? Or whatever you’re able to give. Every pound will provide support for those affected by cancer.
