Story
Yes, AGAIN!
You may recall I ran the 2006 Marathon and was due to run it again in 2008 but had to pull out late on due to injury - and instead rowed the 26.2 miles in a very creditable 3h20m with the bare minimum of preparation! Well, my place was deferred, I’ve managed to avoid any major injuries during training this time around and so will be pounding 26.2 miles of London’s streets come April 26th.
I’ve chosen to run for charity again – this year, it is Dreamflight, the chosen charity of my industry team at work – it is a registered, independent UK charity whose purpose is to take seriously ill and disabled children on their ‘Holiday of a Lifetime’ to the theme parks of Central Florida. Dreamflight believe that fun and joy are just as important as medical research, especially for children who perhaps can’t wait long enough for the breakthrough they need, or whose illness and treatments have brought pain, distress and disruption to their lives. Every year, Dreamflight charter a Boeing 747 and fill it with deserving children from all over the UK, accompanied by a team of medical carers. Dreamflight is funded solely by voluntary contributions and the costs are considerable; despite the discounts that suppliers of services extend we need to raise over £600,000 each year.
Please give whatever you can, large or small - it all adds up, and Gift Aid and a Matched Giving programme from my employer will more than DOUBLE your donations (see below).

*** Donating through this site is simple and secure, and the most efficient way to sponsor me - Dreamflight will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, as much as 28% from the taxman will be added to your gift, at no cost to you! In addition, my employer will also match all donations. SO - each £10 donated is worth £20, or as much as £22.80 if you are a UK taxpayer! (Higher rate UK taxpayers - you can also claim back the additional tax on your tax return, so every £10 donated should cost you just £8.20). ***
