Story

Dear Sponsors,

Just a quick note to thank everyone for sponsoring me through the Marathon and my race in Austria. I completed the marathon in 3hrs 21mins, knocking off 32minutes from last year. Following that I completed the Austrian Half Ironman in 5hrs 27 which is very respectable. I wont be competing in the UK Half Ironman as I have a tendon problem in my ankle but will racing in a variety of sprints and olympic distance races for the remainder of the summer. I will however be adding a race in to replace the UK version in due course.

I would like to make a special note to all those at Schroders who have sponsored me. William Hill has been quite superb in his efforts and has shown what a true friend was to Dad and is to Mum and I. Schroders also presented me with a cheque for £2,500 to add to my already amazing total.

Thank you so much, your generosity really has meant a lot and help bring me through a tough time.

Thank you

With best wishes

Tom

Following a successful London Marathon running for the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign in 2007 I have decided to run again and have been granted a Golden Bond place running this year for Macmillan Cancer Support

Having seen at first hand the way cancer affects a family and knowing what everyone goes through, I wanted to raise money for one the major cancer care charities and Macmillan, who provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support for those affected, are the biggest and most well known. From the moment people are diagnosed with cancer, it has an impact on every aspect of their life - from their emotions to their finances and as they learn to cope with the shock and distress of the diagnosis and the changes cancer can bring, they need a range of support - and so do their family and friends. That's where Macmillan comes in.

Having raised a phenominal amount last year through overwhelming generosity I thought I ought to up the challenge this year....so I will start by running the 26.2mile Marathon on 13th April, I will then race in the Austrian Half Ironman on 24th May followed by the UK Half Ironman on 15th June. (A half Ironman is a triathlon consisting of a 1900m swim, a 56mile bike leg followed by a 13mile run).

Should you feel this is sufficient a challenge and if you would be so generous to donate and help me raise money for an amazing charity, that I know makes a difference, it would be really appreciated. If my fund raising efforts just make that little difference to someone's life it will all be worth it.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you

With best wishes
