Story
Please sponsor us, we will be attempting a triathlon on New Years Day!
Ok, so it’s officially a ‘triathlon sprint’ which is half the distance of an Olympic race, and at least we shall be surrounded by the beauty of Arthur’s Seat on a (hopefully) beautiful winter’s day. The course is a 400m swim, followed by an 11 mile cycle, and finally a 3.5 mile run. We are raising money for the charity ‘500 miles’ which provides prosthetic limbs to people in countries unable to provide this vital help themselves. The charity is set up by two Scottish people, both quadruple amputees. They say:
“In the UK, the NHS provides prosthetic limbs to all amputees able to use them so they can get on with their lives. In many parts of the world thousands of men, women and children lose arms and legs each year due to war, landmines, disease and poverty. To them loss of a limb means loss of livelihood, home and family – even death.”
Please give generously as you can to this very worthwhile cause!
Thanks very much, and to think of us as you’re nursing your hangover on New Years Day!
