Story

RACE DAY!

I've done it!

My official time was 4hrs 2mins 16secs. I came 11515th !

It is beginning to sink in how well I have done. I had been saying this week that if I came in in 4 hrs I would be over the moon but happy with 4 hrs 30mins.

Here are some answers to some possible questions:

Did I run the whole way: YES

Did I want to walk at any stage: YES the thighs were saying stop at around 22miles

Did I enjoy it: YES the atmosphere is great and you do get carried along

Did I see everyone who came to support me: YES their encouragement and shouting was the best!

Am I suffering now: YES it's taken a while to get colour back and to be steady on the feet!

Did I suffer during the race: YES blisters on my toes and it maybe bye to a couple of toe nails (sorry!)

Have I achieved everything I set out to achieve?: YES and so much more

Would I do it again?: NO but friends do not believe that, they think I might have the bug!

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to my family and friends. Your support, messages and sponsorship have actually made me reach my goal today and I really feel my success would not have as great without it.

Update 29.03.10

4 weeks to go and I've received my running number - 38317. Keep an eye on the tv or track me online on the day....if you want to! Up to 16 miles with the training and determined to hit the 20 mile mark very soon. The sponsorship is also looking very good, so thanks once again to all those that have donated, you have all been very generous.

Update 05.03.10:

Thank you to all that have sponsored me so far and for all the positive comments that I have been given. It is a real buzz when I see another sponsor come through and it does encourage me to get out there and train. Have I needed that encouragement, with the snow, ice and of late, rain! Today though was a beautiful Spring day, the sun was out, a little nip in the air and it was so nice to be outside and run.

Those that have seen my Facebook page, will have seen how far I have managed to run. For those who have not seen, I reached 15.1 miles last week (today was just short at 14.5 miles but it was part of the official course as I ran from Greenwich to London Bridge and back round so still happy). For someone who has not run since school days and hated it then, I'm pretty pleased with myself if I say so myself! 0 to 15 and increasing!

So please keep the sponsorship coming in. Tell everyone and anyone, it's a big target to raise and it would be horrible to let the charity down by not reaching it. The training will keep going on, I am determined to complete myself imposed challenge! Keep checking in and I'll try and be good and keep you all updated.

Thanks again for your continuing support.

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. Curiosity obliviously got the better of you!

The reason for this page is that I will be running the Virgin London Marathon this April for Crusaid. This is probably where you collaspe, burst out laughing, start checking you've got the right page etc etc!

2009 did not have the best start and I really wanted to do something that would challenge me and give me a huge sense of achievement. Unfortunatly I did not get a place via the ballot process but I have now been given an opportunity to take part with one of Crusaid's Golden Bond places.

Crusaid is a leading UK charity that supports poor and marginalised people affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK and internationally. Please go to their website at www.crusaid.org.uk to read more about the excellent work that they do.

So here comes the plea! As you can see I have a large target to reach (all part of the conditions of the Golden Bond!) Even if it is not a charity you would normally support, please sponsor me as that would be the greatest incentive I could have to run the 26.3 miles come April!

Thank you for getting this far. For those that do pledge some money, however big or small, remember every penny counts (that could be a quote from Sir terry on Children In Need!), thank you!
