Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

The Vätternrundan is the largest and longest recreational bike ride in the world and I'm riding it in June! Mad I know, but sometimes you've got to go that extra mile, sorry kilometre, and it is for a very good cause. Please read about what Cyclists Fighting Cancer do.

Since 1966 the Vätternrundan has been held every year around Lake Vättern in Sweden. It now attracts 18,000 riders from all over the world. The total distance of the course is 300km (187.5 miles), to give you an idea of the scale of the ride 300 kms is exactly 80 laps of Sefton Park, which is completed in a maximum of 24 hours starting from 8pm on the Friday evening.

I am taking part as a team of 30 trying to raise some money on behalf of 'Cyclists Fighting Cancer'. You can find out more by visiting http://www.cyclistsfc.org.uk/about.html. I am paying the full costs of taking part in the challenge so any money you donate will go directly to CFC.

Our team will start the ride as part of a group of 200 at 8:20 on Friday 12th June, groups of 200 start every 2 minutes because of the huge numbers, and will ride through the night until we finish the following day.

If this is something you would like to support then please be kind enough to sponsor me here. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cyclists Fighting Cancer gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure a 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thanks

Nick
