Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Recently we have lost a colleague to prostate cancer.  Dr Carl Humphries, 51 yrs had worked with us for 17 years. He was the perfect colleague any one would wish to work with, cheerful, helpful and competent cardiac anaesthetist. He was always a keen fundraiser for various medical charities including Anthony Nolan and Prostate cancer even during his illness. His words at the triple half marathon challenge, which he did in late 2013 prior to his departure, were;

I still hope to do the London Marathon in April next year but I don't know how my prostate cancer will behave and what treatment I may be on by then!!!!! If I end up on chemotherapy I think my running days may be over. So I'm planning to do as much fundraising while I still can!!!

In memory of Carl we will be cycling 100 miles a day for three days from London to Paris, part of the fund will be donated to Carl`s chosen charity “prostate cancer ” and the rest to support our charity the "Heart of Gold" which provides funds for research, education and surgical innovation in cardiac diseases at the Lancashire Cardiac Centre in Blackpool where we both work as surgeons.
