Story
Amelia and I had our second daughter Annabel last year. Annabel is growing up very quickly and she keeps us on our toes, as does her big sister Imogen. You may or may not be aware that Annabel was diagnosed, at birth, with a bilateral moderate hearing impairment. Not knowing anything about deafness, it has been a steep learning curve for both parents but we have received amazing support from various organisations. One of the organisations that support us is the National Deaf Children's Society.
Three babies are born deaf every day and 90 per cent of deaf children are born to hearing parents with little experience of deafness. The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) is the national charity dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people. NDCS believes that the family is the most important influence on a deaf child's development. They support deaf child through the family as well as directly supporting deaf children and young people themselves.
I want to now give something back to NDCS. I thought about shaving my head for charity but my wife rightly informed me that that would be cheating, so I committed to do something a bit more challenging by running the Reading half marathon next Sunday.
Amelia and I have been very fortunate with the support we have received and the decision to run for the NDCS was a very easy one. I would like you to support me please by following the link below to my Just Giving pages. Your contribution, however big or small will be hugely appreciated.
