Story
The cartwheels are done but it's not too late to donate!
On Saturday 19 August I turned 3,095 cartwheels, covering 4.5 miles to raise awareness about violence against women. With the committed support of 5 volunteers - who gave their time to walk alongside me, hang banners, create t-shirts, and take countless photos - I finished the course in 3 hours, travelling through two London boroughs on the pavements.
Keep a look out for the Hackney Gazette this Thursday, where there should be photos of the event. There may also be a story in the Newham Recorder next week.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who gave their time for this event, who pledged their support and who joined in celebration on the evening! A special mention goes to Jo, Cathrin, Miranda, Monica, Shamba, Laura and Seyan for going the extra mile. Cheers to Pastel for pledging 1p per cartwheel with the belief that I would only do 1,000. A big thank you as well for the photographer at the Sunday Express, Mark, for taking such fantastic photos and being a mobile-texting cheerleader.
I have no plans to do it again any time soon, but if anyone has spare time to kill, I have nearly a third of the journey on video.
If anyone has good ideas for next year's fundraising stunt, let me know!
