Story

Latest update...Well I did it. 104 fab miles up and down, huffing and puffing, and spluttering and whizzing at times but as I say 'keep the peddles turning and you eventually get there, eventually!'  It was a great day and well worth the training and the little bit of pain.  Time was 7 hours and 7 minutes which I will settle for, not quite my target but not bad either.

The final total, as indicated at the top of the page, is nearly £600 for Calvert Trust - thank you and well done to all.

The Plan...

I will be cycling 104 miles in the Northern Rock Cyclone bike ride event on Saturday 12th June 2010 helping to raise funds for Calvert Trust - Challenging disability through outdoor adventure.

My target time is to complete the 104 miles in under 7 hours which is an average of 15 mph.  Training so far, is going well and averaging 50 to 60 mile cycles.  Latest spin took in Falstone, Redesdale and that hill!  heading towards Bellingham and back to Hexham.

Had another good ride on Sunday and up'd the average to 15.6mph, weather was great though and no fussy head from too much excess the previous evening.  New steering head set on the bike makes the bumps a whole lot smoother - thanks to the boys at Bike Shop Hexham - before it was like riding an old bone shaker...just need the gears sorting now and it will be like a new bike.

Gears now sorted thanks to the Bicycle Repair Man at Prudhoe - at this rate I will have visted all bike shops in the area before I set off - very technical as it was front mech but now on compact 50/34 with 11/25 on the rear, yes, absolutely.

Invested in a new wet weather gear also just in case...thanks to my wife Suzie, an early birthday present.  I'll be needing an early massage as well...it'll give me something to think about whilst crawling up the hills.

Forecast for this Saturday doesn't look great with rain in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon - but who knows.  Actually looking better now with some sunny spells...yippee!!

Prize Draw Raffle for the Robson's - Gift Voucher raised £29.00.

Special thanks...to all at TBN (Tynedale Business Network) for their generous donation of £250.00
