Story
Dear All,
Having said after last year's London marathon, "Phew, thank God that's over!" blow me, but we're here again!
Over a few cold ones with Fiona Jerman from Whizz Kidz after the 2005 NYC marathon, I said to her "That it would be a hoot to do one more", or in her case, run her first one. So she is in as is Richard Lloyd, a long suffering fellow QPR fan, in the finest athletics team ever likely to leave these shores, as part of Team Running Honney (TRH) for this year's Chicago marathon.
After all the injuries I sustained last year, pretty much in line with what one would expect when running 26.2 miles as an amputee, I decided this time round to ease off a bit and try to enjoy it a bit more. Thus, I am not training like a madman as before and this has meant that I am not getting as many injuries and oddly, my times are about the same as before!! Its a case of working 'smarter, not harder'.
I am again running for Whizz Kidz, whom you lot raised the massive sum of £8,500 last year and can I just say a huge thanks to everyone of you who gave not just your money the last time, but also your kind thoughts and words.
I should also mention Fiona, Lloydy as well as Jason, Vanessa and Scott (former colleagues from Atlanta) who are also running and I wish them all the best as well. Praise must also be heeped on the first three members of TRH; Jules, David and Rakesh, former colleagues in London who romped home in this year's London marathon.
As ever, give what you can and if applicable, don't forget the Gift Aid (see below). Many thanks in advance to you all. And true to form, alcohol and choccy have not passed my lips since 28 May...the race is on 22 October, after which I hope to blow the froth off more than a few.
Cheers
JH
