Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I ran the New York City marathon on Sunday 1st November 2009 completing the course in 4 hours 14 minutes and 43 seconds.  It was my 4th New York City marathon and my 5th overall.

Friends, colleagues and family have asked me why, at my age and in my condition, I am going to New York for a weekend to run 26.2 miles.  It is a good question, to which I have failed to come up with a good answer (apart from the fun I've had training with Charlotte, John and Richard who are also running the race).

I've made a late decision to raise money for The Anaphylaxis Campaign – “helping people with severe allergies live their lives” .  Our family has first hand experience of the impact that Anaphylaxis can have and we are very grateful for the help and support the Anaphylaxis Campaign provides.

The Anaphylaxis Campaign is the only UK charity to exclusively meet the needs of the growing numbers of people at risk from severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) by providing information and support relating to foods (nuts, dairy, egg etc) and other triggers such as latex, drugs and insect stings.

Their ultimate aim is to create a safe environment for all people with severe allergy by educating the food industry, schools, pre-schools, colleges, health professionals and other key audiences.  Their focus is on medical facts, food labelling, risk reduction and allergen management.  The Anaphylaxis Campaign provides a wealth of freely available information and also offers tailored services for individual and corporate members.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for your support.
