SO, WHAT'S HAPPENING NYREE?                                                                      Well, from February 2016 to September 2016 I will be going to Tanzania to work with groups of volunteers. My role will be to support groups of young people coming from home, abroad and of course Tanzania itself. The focus of our programme aims to improve the employability skills and livelihoods of young people, making long term differences to communities and future generations. 

WHY?                                                                                                                       We are doing this because we hold the firm belief that young people have the ability to make important and lasting changes in our world, yet often are not given such opportunities to prove themselves. Having worked with young people throughout my life, I have learned so much and been awakened and inspired by them. I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to work with them and support them in their goals. I know they will be great! 

In a time when young people at home and abroad are working hard, yet still struggling to find direction and employment, these projects not only work to improve the lives of people within these 'far away' communities, the skills, knowledge and experience gained by the volunteers (and team leaders!), will enable and inspire us to continue good works within our home countries and communities upon our return. So that means  yours!

IS THIS JUST A MIDLIFE GAP YEAR?                                                                No. Those of you who know me will know how serious I am about the work I will undertaking in the upcoming few months. And will also know that it has taken me some time to find an organisation and placement which I feel happy with and passionate about working for. ICS and Restless Development only work with communities that have asked for their help and we will be working with the local community to make a difference that is real and sustainable. 

SO WHAT DO YOU WANT?     
Being selected for ICS is part a three-part process made up of:

 Fundraising

The placement itself 

and Action at Home

Before I depart I must raise £800 for Restless Development. This money DOES NOT fund my volunteering, but goes directly to the charity itself. 

Sooo....

In the run up to my volunteering I will be holding several fundraising events! My mind is whirling and I aim to find little schemes to entice you all to participate and donate. So please do watch this space!
