On Sunday the 23^rd of May STR took to the water for their first annual Dragon Boat Racing Festival.

The weather was hot, hot, hot, the setting was beautiful, and ‘The Oarsome STR’ lived up to their name.

Having never raced before, we were expecting a bad time in the first heat and ranking 6^th from bottom out of 30 with 1 minute 14 seconds gave us no surprises.

Fuelled with burger and sausages we took to the water again, this time achieving a respectable 1 minute 12 seconds.

Now, meaning business, we held a crisis team talk, practiced our strokes and set ourselves for our final effort of the day.  

In the last heat we completed the distance in 1 minute 9 seconds, placing us 8^th on the table, just 2 places off the final!!

A massive thank you to everyone who took part and those who came to watch and give support. It’s great to see what we can achieve when working together. Now let’s put our efforts into hitting our sponsorship target for Naomi House.
