We provide expert care and support to young people with cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 12th June  2010, 38 of us are undertaking  a 37 mile  bike  ride from Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge to Datchworth, Hertfordshire. This ride has been inspired by the cancer diagnosis of a close friend’s daughter.

The aim of the charity cycle is to raise money specifically for the Teenage Cancer Trust, Addenbrooke's fund. It will go towards the building of a specialist ward for young people aged between 13 and 24 undergoing cancer treatment. *

These wards are vital in giving young people the care and support they need when their lives have been turned upside down. Every day in the UK 6 young people are diagnosed and currently if any of them are within the 7 counties of East Anglia (including Herts, Beds, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambs) they will be isolated on a ward with either small children or older people.

The new unit at Addenbrooke's is scheduled to be completed in December 2010 but much more fund raising is needed. Your money will help many young people get specialist treatment and be in the best possible environment when they need it most. *
