Hey there,

For Cancer Research, I’ve decided completely change my hair. So instead of the usual short on sides, messy on top, I’m going for shaved sides, with a bright, and boy do I mean bright, pink Mohawk... but theres more to it than that...

My mom has had cancer twice, and beat it both times. I’d like to put something back to the charity that will hopefully beat this vile disease once and for all...

"He's got 12 hours to get out of one airport, home, change bags, over 100 miles to another airport, checked in and on the next plane...

...he's never been on a plane...

...and he's having a bright
pink mohawk for charity
the day before he leaves.

"It'll be fine" He says...

This year, ‘Our Tim has been given the opportunity to travel with his university course to report on the Shanghai Motorshow and Grand Prix. Obviously, he said yes without really realising that it’s in China. But regardless of the fact the most he knows about China is that he likes chicken chow mein, he’s adamant that things will be ‘fine’.

He’s never been on a plane...

So his first flight is going to be around 12 hours and about 6,000 miles. And if that doesn’t shell shock him, China certainly will.

But there’s more...

Last year, he also booked to go to New York. Due to the Volcanoes, he never made it and it got rearranged to this year. Unfortunately, ‘Our Tim never checked the dates or times of his flights...

He returns from China:

28th April 2011 at 10.15pm to Birmingham International.

He leaves for New York:

29th April 2011 at 10.15am from Heathrow Airport.

In 12 hours, he’s got to get off the plane, get his bag, out of Birmingham International airport back to his house in Coventry, change his bags over, get the coach to Heathrow, check in, and get seated on the plane. In 12 hours. After a 6000 mile flight, only his 2nd time flying. Then he’s travelling a further 3500 miles to New York.

In 3 weeks, he’s travelling over 19,000 miles. And if that was nerve shattering enough, he's decided to do a charity stunt the day before he leaves...

For Cancer Research UK, he’s having his hair done in a rather radical style... Shaved sides and bright, and boy do we mean bright, pink Mohawk... The day before he leaves the UK on a 19,000 mile, 3 week journey.

Why you might ask? We’ll let him answer that one:

"Why not? I mean I love doing stuff for charity, and cus of work, I won’t get a chance to do something like this for a long time, so let’s do it! I know it’s going to get me in more trouble than I’m already in, and if it’s going to raise attention to cancer research and a bit of money as well, then what a great excuse to ruin my hair! I have been warned to expect a 'interesting' welcome in China... aparantly, they don't like things out the ordinary. They're gonna hate me then!!"

So anything you can do to support me is really appreciated, if everyone sponsored 1p, it’d slowly add up to a much bigger amount – which will make all the difference to someone out there. The Mop Show are going to cut, no wait sorry, ruin my hair for free and people are being really supportive, but that doesn’t mean you should stop giving! So come on, lets make as big a difference to Cancer Research as this event is going to to my hair!!

Thank you for reading this and for your kind donation – it’s really appreciated.

Our Tim xx
